WHITE RIBBON

CHAMPIONS

Advocacy is at the heart of being a champion

As a White Ribbon Champion you will share our message and raise awareness about harmful definitions of masculinity and promote positive traits such as empathy and care.

    • They have direct experience of violence against women

    • They want to make a difference and know that they have skills that can help

Currently, most volunteer as part of their workplace Accreditation to help progress ending violence and increasing gender equality in the workplace. • Becoming a White Ribbon Ambassador is an important role that carries serious responsibility. It is necessary that you understand the commitment you are making to take an active role in ending violence against women and girls and building a culture of equality and respect.

To do this, we ask that everyone reads thoroughly and agrees to the Code of Conduct. Ambassadors and Champions commitment to the Code of Conduct will need to be renewed on an annual basis.

HEAR FROM OUR CHAMPIONS

White Ribbon Champions are vital to our work as they raise awareness about men’s violence against women and girls in their communities, workplaces and among their friends.

Here are three of examples of what White Ribbon Champions can do:

Deborah is the Safeguarding and Firesetter Intervention Officer for an Accredited Fire and Rescue Service. She leads on delivering several aspects of the organisations action plan.  This includes regularly presenting White Ribbon Training Sessions for Fire Service Staff.

Jane became a White Ribbon Champion and fundraiser in memory of her friend.  Her friends’s life was tragically taken in February 2019 and her ex-boyfriend was convicted in July 2019. Jane ran her first ever half marathon to support White Ribbon UK. Jane wanted to raise awareness of the risks of violence and to prevent others from going through what her friend went through.

Claire works for her local Council and has taken a lead in organising and promoting White Ribbon across the authority. This has included linking in with several external partners and organisations.  Claire helped organise a White Ribbon awareness-raising display as part a major council community event that was seen by thousands of people.
